In November 2003 Google performed a key algorithm modification. The reason for this alteration was to influence their search result. It is speculated that Google could use varied algorithm and concepts, such as Hilltop, Topic Specific page rank, Trust Rank, Temporal analysis and Latent Semantic Indexing.

A few of the algorithms are not applicable in the present search environment but it is worthwhile to understand what they mean and how it basically works. This will help to understand search may be headed and also know what search topic search engineers believe to be significant when it comes to improving overall relevancy scores and better rankings.
